Got that Brain Fog?
I hear a lot of people complaining about brain fog, lack of clarity or just not being able to focus & I have certainly been there myself. After an accident, several years ago that resulted in amnesia, I had a significant brain fog and memory issues, but not anymore! There are a lot of different things you can do for helping with these issues, but today, I am going to look at 3 amazing natural plants that could be fantastic helpers.
Bacopa Monnieri – (Brahmi)
Brahmi herb has been used by Ayurvedic medical practitioners for almost 3000 years for many brain-related issues. It’s believed to work by helping improve chemicals in the brain that are involved in thinking, learning, and memory. Some research suggests that it could also help to protect brain cells from chemicals involved in encouraging Alzheimer’s disease.
Possible uses for Brahmi are improving
- Alzheimer’s disease
- mental illness
- help fight stress
- even sexual performance problems in both men and women!
Centella Asiatica – (Gotu kola)
Gotu kola has been used widely by Ayurvedic, African and Chinese traditional medical practitioners. This herb contains certain chemicals that appear to decrease inflammation while also decreasing blood pressure. Gotu kola also seems to help in wound healing by increasing collagen production.
Gotu kola has been used for,
- fighting fatigue
- improving memory and intelligence
- wound healing
- circulation problems including varicose veins, and blood clots in the legs.
Gotu kola has also been used to help combat,
- parasitic infections
- bacterial infections
- urinary tract infection
- the common cold, influenza, and Swine flu
Most significantly, several clinical studies have shown Gotu kola extract has led to conclusions of moderate to significant cognitive improvement in a high percentage of participants.
Ginkgo biloba may very well be the best out of this list. These amazing trees have an incredible story and are one of the longest living tree species in the world, with some trees living today said to be more than 1500 years old! Primarily native to China, it has been used in Chinese medicine & food for thousands of years.
Ginkgo seems to work by improving blood circulation, which could help the brain, eyes, ears, and legs function better. It seems to slow down Alzheimer’s disease by interfering with changes in the brain that interfere with thinking & memory.
Ginkgo biloba has been used for many different conditions not just limited to the brain. Some of its uses are to help with
- Mental function,
- Vision problems (due to diabetes and/or glaucoma),
- leg pain when walking due to poor blood flow,
- Vertigo and dizziness,
- and of course Alzheimer’s.
Many clinical studies done on Ginkgo Biloba, show it appears capable of stabilising and, in a substantial number of cases, improving the cognitive performance and the social functioning of patients with Alzheimer disease or dementia.
